Cheap Electric Scooters For Sale
You’ve seen the sign or add…Cheap Electric Scooters For Sale! But what exactly should you think about when wanting to purchase a cheap or very cheap scooter?
When wanting to purchase a scooter, especially if it is your first time into the scooter arena, the tendency is to look for cheap scooters over expensive….and that is logical. When looking to purchase a cheap or very cheap scooter. Always begin by asking yourself who the scooter is for, and what are the general requirements for the scooter’s use, regardless of price? In this way you will formulate your specific search by the parameters deemed most important to you. Some potential questions to ask your self are: is it for a child, boy or girl, an adult, a heavy or light rider? Distance to travel, speed requirements, standing vs. sitting, street legal or not, for general fun or real commute? When you write down exactly who will be riding this scooter and for what purpose, it will be much easier to compare makes, models, prices etc…
What makes a cheap or very cheap scooter just that?
Remember the old adage – You get what you pay for…Cheap Scooters are cheap for a reason, however that doesn’t mean you can’t have great experience with one. First off, the less expensive the scooter, the less “street legal,” it will be. The Cheapest and/or very cheap scooters will most likely NOT be street legal. They don’t have seats, head lights, turn signals, and/or go fast enough for posted speed limits. They are also generally electric. Not that this is good or bad, however a gas powered scooter usually is higher in weight to accommodate the gas tank etc, and thus have higher quality requirements for parts, and makeup etc…Building on that point, the less expensive, the less metal parts and more plastic parts etc…The more plastic parts on the scooter, the easier chance for breakage…especially for kids using little 50CC electric 3 wheel stand-up style scooters…Kids will treat them like bikes they hop off of and let fall to the ground etc…Again that is totally fine if you understand that going in, and you understand your requirements as we discussed above, and thus have reasonable expectations for your scooter.
Other thing’s you’ll easily notice with cheap or very cheap scooters is that the warranty and manufacturer support can be less then their more expensive counterparts. Again not that this is a bad thing, however a less expensive and/or no-name brand scooter may only come with 30-60 day, limited warranties, while a name brand, more expensive scooter will generally start at a one year warranty.
Lastly, always keep to the “name brand,” scooter manufacturers that are well or best known for the style of scooter you are looking for. When it comes to cheap and/or very cheap scooters, the most widely accepted manufacturer is Razor. They have many scooter makes and models, and MANY in the $100-$300 range, depending on your specific requirements. This isn’t an endorsement for them or their products, however they are largely considered “THE” main player in the scooter market (and have many cheap models)…The money saved in going with a lesser known or accepted manufacturer, will be minimal, and not worth the headache in the long run…
